I thought a little more about the last entry. It still seems (at least to me) reasonably argued and valid. But... In that article, I insist that society encourages people not to consider the consequences of their actions. Is that true? Or am I simply developing a poor excuse for my own lack of consideration, for the things that I know I ought to care about but haven't taken any action on? I considered it and decided that I still think it's true, regardless of what my subconscious reason was; the article was written mostly about hypothetical "other people". Even so, "because society made me do it" is not a valid excuse in the law courts... --sam |
